Are you planning to start a room from scratch and speculating on installing insulated doors? Is your quest on replacing a distressed or and an old door? Well, if all these questions are creating a problem on your mind, then you have come to the right place. Installing a door is fast and easy. With a few tools, effort and technical know-how, you are sure to install your insulated interior doors easily.
The first step to take is by purchasing your door. Ensure to buy a door that fits the rough opening in the wall. It is important to know that door openings and doors are generally standard sizes ranging from 24-36”. For the framed-in rough opening of a door, you will normally find the measurement at 2”. This is usually wider than the purchased door. It will help to create a room for adjustment when installing your door to achieve plumb level.
Next on this list is to start getting items ready for the installation process. You can go ahead to draw a plumb line on the wall. Ensure to measure about 1/2” from the rough opening on the hinge joint side of your door. You can use 4′ or 6′ to draw a level line through the drywall. At this juncture, a laser level can as well be used. This will give you a more accurate result. Nevertheless, you will find the whole process simple.
Finally, you can now attach the door installation brackets. Ensure to attach or add about six door installation brackets to the outside of your door jamb. This should be to the wood frame that your door comes with in pre-attached form. Ensure to position a bracket behind each of the 3 hinges. Now, go ahead to attach the remaining 3 brackets on the other side of your jamb. The first bracket should be about 8′ from the top. The next bracket should be just above the latch stop. Lastly, the bracket 8′ should be from the bottom of your door.
